Marcienne Umubyeyi

Marcienne Umubyeyi is a Rwandese national who has many years of experience in administration, public relations, human resource management and capacity building. She has exceptionally good interpersonal and communication skills, an excellent command of French and English both written and spoken, is a native Kinyarwanda speaker and also speaks some Kiswahili.

Marcienne has worked closely on donor funded education projects with IE Partners since 2007. She worked on the DFID contracted Rwanda Textbook Reform Project undertaking school surveys and field research in 2007, and in 2008 she again helped IE Partners with surveys and workshops dealing with the textbook distribution system in Rwanda.

More recently, Marcienne has been working with IE Partners on the Rwandan Textbook Evaluation, funded by Belgian Technical Cooperation (BTC), to continue the work of learning and teaching materials reform. She has managed the running of a series of training courses on the principles and implications of the reform for a wide spectrum of staff from the Ministry of Education.

In 2009 Marcienne again worked with IE Partners in Rwanda on providing detailed professional support to NCDC in the management of a very large international bid for a wide range of learning and teaching materials and she has provided support to the Rwandan National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) in the evaluation of over 1,500 titles as the basis for new approved and recommended book lists from which schools will choose the materials that they want to use. She was also part of the IE Partners team in neighbouring Burundi when she undertook a World Bank funded school survey and field research in April 2009.

Marcienne is currently undertaking an MBA in Finance with the Maastricht School of Management in collaboration with School of Finance and Banking. Marcienne represents IE Partners in Rwanda, Burundi and in Central Africa.
