Alisa Klima

Alisa Klima graduated in 1996 from Tashkent State University with a diploma in TESL and English linguistics.

In 1998 she graduated from Tashkent State Economics University with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

Between 1999 and 2003 she was the academic and educational research advisor and the technical assistance project manager for the ADB/MoPE/British Council Basic Education Textbook Development Project.

From 2004 to 2005 she was the regional representative of the Centre for British Teachers in the Central Asian Republics. In 2004 she became a freelance education consultant and is currently employed as an IEP Regional Representative. In this capacity she has participated in a number of ADB funded initiatives including the design phase of the Second Textbook Development Project (STDP), and a JFPR funded, ADB managed project in Uzbekistan to improve Access and Education Quality for Disadvantaged Children.

She was the national project manager and counterpart team leader in the ADB funded PPTA for ICT in Basic Education in Uzbekistan. As a part of the PPTA team she participated in the development of the National ICT in Basic Education Strategy, the design of the ICT in Basic Education Project, undertook field research for an Education Sector Study and organized and participated in the International ICT in Basic Education Conference held in Uzbekistan in November 2005.

In 2006-2007 Alisa was working for IEP as the Regional Coordinator for the ADB funded RETA for ICT in Basic Education covering Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In 2007 Alisa also worked in Tajikistan on a World Bank funded publishing training as a regional facilitator and trainer.

Alisa has also worked as part of a research team in Tajikistan for the British Council and the World Bank on the preparation of a report on Curriculum and Textbooks and has undertaken gender work in Tajikistan for the OSI.

Between June 2006 and October 2006 Alisa has attended the ADB funded workshops on Result Focused Project Design and Management and Training of Facilitators. In 2007 Alisa co-facilitated the ADB funded workshop on Result Focused Project Design and Management in India organized for Indian government and project leaders.

She is currently preparing a Regional Conference on ICT in Education and Resource Centers which will be held in October 2009 in Tajikistan and which Alisa will facilitate with and for the Ministry of Education of Tajikistan and Microsoft.

She has experience in project design, implementation and training in Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Russia, the UK, India, Philippines, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

In September 2009 Alisa will co-facilitate the ADB funded Project Performance Management Systems (PPMS) Training of Facilitators in Turkey. One of the recent interests is HR development (training of HR Directors, March 2007, Moscow, Russia) and Personal Development in a Corporate Culture (Tashkent 2009).

Currently Alisa is studying for a degree in management at the Tashkent branch of the Moscow Humanity and Economics Institute.

Alisa speaks and writes fluent Russian and English.
